Graphic video shows moment lion was killed after it mauled an OAU zookeeper
A video depicting the aftermath of the tragic mauling of an OAU zookeeper by a lion has surfaced.
It is recalled that Olabode Olawuyi, a staff member of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife Zoological Park, lost his life to a nine-year-old lion in the zoo on Monday, February 19th.
The video shared online shows a bloodied Olawuyi lying unconscious on the floor after the attack, as other zoo staff express their shock and dismay. Their determination to hold the lion accountable is evident as one staff member retrieves a firearm and shoots at the lion responsible for the attack.
The wounded lion is captured limping before succumbing to its injuries and passing away.
In a statement issued by the University's public relations officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, it was revealed that Olawuyi, a Veterinary Technologist, had faithfully served as the overseer of the Zoological garden for over a decade until his untimely demise.
