Guinness World Records (GWR) has rejected Ghanaian chef Faila Abdul-Razak's bid to establish a new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

According to DAILY POST, Faila embarked on a 10-day cooking marathon on January 1st, 2024, at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale. She cooked continuously for 227 hours, surpassing the previous record of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who had previously surpassed Nigerian Hilda Baci's record of 93 hours and 11 minutes.

However, in an update provided by Faila's coordinator, Kafui Dey, on Monday, it was revealed that GWR's Records Management Team cited a violation of the rest break rules, resulting in the disqualification of her attempt.

Despite the setback, Faila expressed gratitude to her supporters, emphasizing the importance of their encouragement on her journey. She made it clear that she values their role immensely.
