Authorities in Spain are continuing their investigation into the disturbing discovery of a dismembered newborn baby found at a landfill in Madrid in December 2024. The tragic case, dubbed "Operation Natal" by law enforcement, has led investigators to believe the child was killed shortly after birth, prompting a concentrated search for the infant’s mother.

At approximately 1:46 a.m. on December 12, workers at a recycling plant in Loeches, just outside Madrid, discovered the remains of a five-day-old baby girl inside trash bags. The Civil Guard was immediately alerted and began a criminal investigation.
Forensic examinations conducted at the Institute of Forensic Medicine revealed the newborn was of South American descent and had been born alive. Medical experts determined the cause of death was likely asphyxiation and noted signs of a violent end.

Investigators believe the remains originated from the Puente de Vallecas district in Madrid. Efforts are now focused on identifying the mother and uncovering the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
“The remains correspond to a female baby who was born alive. There are clear signs pointing to a violent death,” the Civil Guard said in an official statement. Authorities also confirmed that evidence points to the baby being intentionally killed.

While the investigation remains ongoing, police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in solving the case. The Civil Guard emphasized the importance of community cooperation to fully clarify the criminal act.
