Investment Banker Allegedly Assaults Woman at Brooklyn Pride Event
A millionaire investment banker allegedly punched a woman in the face, sending her crashing to the ground on a Brooklyn street Saturday night.
Disturbing video shows the man delivering a forceful overhand right punch to the woman’s face in front of a crowd of partygoers during Brooklyn Pride in Park Slope. The woman covered her injured face and collapsed, just feet away from another presumably injured person lying on the pavement.
Social media users identified the assailant in the video, which has garnered nearly 5 million views, as Jonathan Kaye, a managing director at Moelis & Co.
“We have become aware that one of our employees was involved in a serious incident in Brooklyn on June 8. We take this matter very seriously and are conducting an investigation,” a spokesperson for the New York-based investment bank told The Post. The company did not confirm whether the employee was Kaye or if he faced any disciplinary action.
Kaye declined to comment when reached by The Post, and the NYPD had no information on the assault. The video doesn’t show the moments leading up to the attack but captures the flustered-looking assailant walking away with a jacket streaked with liquid.
“She f–king threw s–t all over me,” the man believed to be Kaye can be heard saying as onlookers called him an “asshole” and a “horrible person.”
The woman reportedly suffered a broken nose, and another person’s arm was "busted up," according to text overlaid on the video.
Kaye has overseen the Global Business Services franchise at Moelis & Co. since 2013 and previously worked at Citi Bank as managing director of its Global Mergers & Acquisitions Group. He lives in a four-bedroom townhouse in Park Slope valued at over $4 million, just three blocks from Ginger’s Bar, one of Brooklyn’s last remaining lesbian bars.
The assault occurred as thousands attended the 28th annual Brooklyn Pride Multicultural Festival, a day-long event that started with a 5K run and ended with a parade along Fifth Avenue.
