An elderly woman was killed in Milan after a 70-year-old man leapt from his fourth-floor balcony and landed on her in a tragic accident.
The victim, 83-year-old Francesca Manno, was walking through the courtyard of her apartment complex in the Baggio district around 6 p.m. on Sunday when the man jumped from his balcony. Witnesses said she appeared to take the full impact of his fall.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but paramedics were unable to revive Ms. Manno, who was pronounced dead in the courtyard.

The man survived with multiple leg fractures and was transported conscious to Niguarda Hospital. Doctors confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening. Carabinieri officers later confirmed the fall was a suicide attempt.
Initially, investigators feared a double suicide, but it was determined the two were strangers. The man has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter and remains under investigation.
In a separate tragedy, Italy is mourning the death of 15-year-old figure skater Matilda Ferrari, who was struck and killed by a cement truck on Monday morning.
The accident occurred on State Road 239 in Val Rendena, Trentino, as Matilda was on her way to school. Reports indicate she was crossing the street to reach a bus stop when the truck, moving through a green light, struck her.
Rescue teams, including firefighters, doctors, and a helicopter crew, responded quickly, but the teenager succumbed to severe injuries at the scene.
Matilda was a beloved athlete in her hometown of Giustino, where she was well-known in the local skating community. The town’s mayor, Manuel Cosi, expressed his grief, saying, “We are shocked... Giustino has lost a star.”
