Justice D.T. Olatokun of the High Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, has ordered the immediate release of Ayotunde Richard, a former member of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) and gospel singer, following a petition from Davidson Adejuwon, a lawyer and reportedly an aide to the church founder, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.

Ayotunde Richards had also filed a suit against Pastor Olukoya, alleging a breach of his fundamental human rights.

The lawyer, Adesina Ogunlana, confirmed this development in a video to SaharaReporters on Friday. Ayotunde, who was detained at the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Ikoyi for eight days, described his detention as illegal, oppressive, and an abuse of power.

Documents from SaharaReporters show that Ayotunde Richards faces 12 counts of cyberbullying and libel at a Federal High Court in Lagos. These charges were filed by N. W. Uhumwangho, a prosecuting counsel at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) in Yaba, Lagos, on March 11, 2024.
