KWAM1 Alleges Ayankunle, others’ passports seized By British Authorities for Immigration Offences
Yoruba Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM or K1 De Ultimate, has responded to allegations made by some of his band members, including Ayankunle Ayanlowo, who accused him of mistreatment and likened their relationship to that of a master and a slave.
In an interview with GoldMyne TV on Sunday, K1 addressed these accusations, stating that Ayankunle and others were being mischievous and attempting to tarnish his reputation in their interviews.
Ayankunle shared his grievances, claiming KWAM1 would confiscate their passports during travels and recounted an incident where he was denied medical attention and instructed to return home.
In response, KWAM1 clarified that Ayankunle and two others had absconded from the band during a tour in England in the 90s, resulting in their passports being withheld by British authorities for overstaying. He denied withholding passports and highlighted the circumstances of Ayankunle's passport being held by the British High Commission due to his actions.
KWAM1 also addressed another band member's accusations, stating that he had never unjustly treated anyone and always listened to their concerns. He cited an example of assisting a band member facing house demolition in Oyo State, highlighting his willingness to support and collaborate with his team members.
The Fuji maestro acknowledged the challenges with band members and mentioned disbanding and regrouping with new members when necessary. He maintained that he has always acted with fairness and concern for his team's well-being.
