Lagos Father Arrested for Allegedly Defiling Two Biological Daughters

A 32-year-old man, Best Orji, has been arrested by Lagos State police operatives for allegedly engaging in sexual relationships with his two biological daughters, aged 12 and 14. The arrest followed a complaint by Orji’s 28-year-old wife, who reported the incident at the Surulere Police Division after discovering the abuse.

The distraught mother revealed that the assaults had been ongoing for nearly a year before she caught her husband in the act with their 14-year-old daughter. Further investigation uncovered that the 12-year-old had also been abused. The woman, who had been in a relationship with Orji since she was 17, explained that she often left the children in his care while running errands.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed Orji’s arrest and subsequent arraignment on May 9, 2025, under Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law (2015) for defilement. A medical report from a Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC) was obtained as part of the investigation.

The case has sparked outrage, highlighting concerns over child sexual abuse within families. Authorities urge residents to report such crimes promptly to ensure swift justice.
