Lagos Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Woman for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend to Death in Ijegun

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 21-year-old Precious Anegbode for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, identified only as Damilola, to death during a domestic altercation in the Ijegun area of Lagos.

The tragic incident occurred last Friday when Anegbode reportedly visited Damilola’s residence. According to residents, a heated argument broke out between the couple, which escalated into a violent confrontation. One neighbor reported hearing a prolonged exchange of shouting before Anegbode allegedly reached for a knife and stabbed Damilola.

“We don’t know what caused the fight,” a resident said. “We just heard loud arguments, then suddenly the lady was screaming. When we entered their room, her boyfriend was lying lifeless on the floor.”

Another resident confirmed that neighbors rushed the victim to the hospital, where medical personnel declared him dead on arrival. Meanwhile, others restrained Anegbode to prevent her from fleeing until police officers arrived at the scene.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that it was reported around 11:30 a.m. on the same day. The case was initially handled by the Igando Division but was later transferred to the Isheri Oshun division for jurisdictional reasons.

Hundeyin noted that both patrol and criminal investigation teams were mobilized. Anegbode was arrested, and the knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered. Investigators also documented bloodstains and photographed the scene.

The suspect allegedly gave a confessional statement under caution. The case file, along with the recovered weapon and other evidence, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
