A 23-year-old British-Nigerian woman, Tamilore Odunsi, was tragically stabbed to death in her student apartment in Houston, Texas, just days before she was scheduled to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Tamilore, affectionately known as “Tami,” was found dead in the kitchen of her flat after a welfare check was requested by a family friend who had been unable to contact her.
Responding officers from the Houston Police Department discovered blood on the rear patio of her apartment before forcing entry. Inside, they found Tamilore with multiple fatal stab wounds. A male roommate, who also sustained stab injuries, was discovered in a bedroom and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities reported that the two shared the two-bedroom apartment but were "complete strangers." The man had reportedly moved in only a few weeks prior.

Tamilore relocated from London to Houston in 2022 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She had been living in the U.S. for nearly two years and was known for her vibrant personality and strong online presence. With over 30,000 followers on TikTok under the handle “Tamidollars,” she often shared videos about her nursing studies and experiences as a Brit living in America. Her content, which had earned over 3 million likes, included humorous comparisons between the U.K. and U.S. healthcare systems and lighthearted anecdotes about cultural differences.
Her final TikTok post, uploaded just three days before her death, showed her smiling in her room with the caption “I’m readdyyyyy” and the text overlay: “23 years old. BSN grad in 2 weeks. Summer is 14 days away. Starting to look human again.” The upbeat video, now haunting in hindsight, has drawn thousands of tributes from followers and friends.

Tamilore’s sister, Georgina Odunsi, launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the repatriation of her body to the U.K., funeral costs, and family support. The page has already surpassed £28,000 of its £40,000 goal. In a heartfelt tribute, Georgina described her sister as “a beautiful soul, full of light, ambition, and kindness,” and shared how deeply involved Tamilore was with her church community and her passion for caring for others, especially children.
“Tami had a special love for children and always dreamed of making a difference in young lives through her work in healthcare,” Georgina wrote. “She was a God-fearing young woman who found strength and joy in her faith… Tragically, Tami was murdered just days before she was set to graduate from university – an unimaginable loss at a moment that should have marked the beginning of a bright and promising future.”

Her brother, Manny Odunsi, a property developer, also expressed his grief in a moving message on Instagram, saying: “Flying 10 hours to America will be the hardest journey of my life. Knowing that you won't be at the airport to greet us makes the pain even deeper… You were always by my side especially through my property journey and for that, I'm grateful. I promise to make you proud and continue to honour your legacy.”
The Houston Police Department confirmed that Tamilore was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The male roommate remains hospitalized, and the investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. Authorities have not yet released further details about a possible motive or any criminal charges.

Tamilore's death has sparked an outpouring of grief from her followers, friends, and loved ones both in the U.K. and the U.S., as tributes continue to pour in for a young woman remembered for her compassion, ambition, faith, and bright future.
