A Louisiana woman has been arrested after authorities said she fatally stabbed her husband during an altercation and then ran him over with their SUV.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 65-year-old Carmella Motley was charged with second-degree murder following the death of her husband, 68-year-old Sebastian King, on Tuesday night. Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle crash around 10 p.m. in Waggaman, a community in western New Orleans, where they discovered King unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Motley, who remained at the scene, identified herself as King’s wife and told deputies the pair had been fighting while driving. Detectives later determined that in addition to being stabbed, King had also been struck by a vehicle. The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office ruled his cause of death as blunt- and sharp-force injuries. Authorities have not released a motive for the deadly altercation.

King, a grandfather of five, worked as a food delivery driver for Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans. God’s House Church in Marrero, Louisiana, one of his regular delivery stops, announced plans to host a “celebration of life” in his memory.

Motley was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and is being held on $500,000 bond.
