A Louisiana woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly beating a man with a bat during a violent altercation that resulted in his death after two vehicles struck him as he lay in the street.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, 43-year-old Tonnisha Mitchell attacked Gene Hill, 42, during a late-night confrontation that began inside her vehicle and escalated onto the street around midnight on Friday. Authorities said the two were involved in a heated argument before the incident turned violent.

Mitchell allegedly struck Hill multiple times in the head and body with a bat, leaving him incapacitated on the ground. Witnesses reported that Mitchell fled the scene, leaving Hill seriously injured and unable to move. Moments later, two cars drove over Hill’s body as he lay in the roadway, causing fatal injuries.

Following the incident, investigators allege Mitchell attempted to destroy evidence at various locations in the surrounding area. She was later located and arrested at her residence.

Mitchell has been charged with manslaughter and second-degree battery, and is currently being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Authorities have not confirmed the nature of the relationship between Mitchell and Hill.

The case remains under active investigation as law enforcement works to determine all contributing factors in the fatal assault and subsequent collision.
