A 23-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh narrowly escaped death after her husband allegedly tied her up, tortured her, and inserted a heated knife into her mouth during a dowry-related attack. The shocking incident took place in Khargone district, where the victim, Khushboo Pipliya, suffered severe burns across her torso, arms, and legs after her intoxicated husband pressed a red-hot knife against her body.

According to Khushboo’s statement, the abuse stemmed from her husband’s ongoing dowry demands and his open dislike for her following their marriage in February this year. She reported that on Sunday night, her husband first beat her with kicks before dragging her into the kitchen, tying her hands and feet, and threatening her with what resembled a firearm. He then burned her repeatedly with the heated knife, telling her she was unwanted because her parents had forced the marriage.

The victim also alleged that other family members were present in the house during the torture. Despite her injuries, Khushboo managed to free herself at around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, borrowed a mobile phone from a household worker, and contacted her family. She was immediately taken to the district hospital in Awarkachh for treatment.

Her father, Lokesh Verma, said he dispatched his younger son to bring her home after learning of the assault. The family reported the case to Mengaon police station but claimed they were threatened by some individuals upon arrival. Verma alleged that the attack was fueled by dowry harassment and his son-in-law’s dislike of Khushboo.

Police confirmed they were alerted by hospital staff about the young woman’s injuries. Authorities have since registered a case and launched an investigation. Officers have recorded multiple statements, and further inquiries are underway to determine the full extent of the assault. The victim’s family has demanded strict legal action against the accused.
