A Pennsylvania man accused of killing his mother and transporting her body across state lines is now facing extradition to Maryland in connection with two additional murders that authorities say were staged to appear as suicides.

Kevin Ahn, 31, is charged with the first-degree murders of Sun Tok Lim, 83, and In Yong Kim, 70, in their Owings Mills, Baltimore County home on March 24 — the same day he allegedly strangled his own mother, Hyun Ahn, 61. Authorities say he drove her body to his estranged sister's home in Penn Township, Pennsylvania, where he was later arrested.

According to investigators, Lim and Kim were discovered lying on the kitchen floor of their residence with belts wrapped around their necks. The causes of death were consistent with strangulation, mirroring that of Hyun Ahn.

Initially, Kevin Ahn was charged with abuse of a corpse in Pennsylvania for transporting his mother’s body, which police say he attempted to conceal by covering it with McDonald’s wrappers and household trash inside her 2022 Toyota RAV4. Prosecutors in Lancaster County dropped the abuse of corpse charge to expedite his extradition to Maryland, where he now faces multiple counts of first-degree murder, assault, and fugitive from justice charges.

Law enforcement in Penn Township were alerted to Ahn after his sister, who described him as "transient and not generally welcome at the home," reported a suspicious incident. Upon arrival, she and her husband confronted Ahn and discovered an unresponsive body — later identified as their mother — lying across the rear seat and floor of his vehicle, partially hidden under trash and personal items.

Authorities also recovered a note from the car window that read:

"Mom is in the car. I'm sorry please give her a funeral. My brain is fried. My mom lied, she gave me fake money from the N.A. So did my employers. I lost my mind, please forgive me."

At a preliminary hearing in April, police testified that Hyun Ahn had been dead for at least 30 to 40 hours before her body was found. Kevin Ahn’s defense attorney claimed he was not attempting to desecrate the body, but rather mourning her in his own way, stating he "covered the body out of respect," likening the act to "dressing up a skeleton."

Further charges are pending as investigations continue in both Pennsylvania and Maryland.
