The Ogun State Police Command has taken Kolawole Akinsanya into protective custody following his arrest for his alleged involvement in the death of his neighbor, Lukmon Ajibola, in Ilepa, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. The incident occurred on Monday, February 5, around 8 pm.

An anonymous resident of the community revealed that a dispute arose when a goat belonging to Ajibola strayed into Akinsanya's compound and consumed his dried yam, leading to Akinsanya allegedly killing the animal in anger.

Ajibola confronted Akinsanya about the incident, sparking an argument that escalated when Akinsanya reportedly called on some individuals to attack Ajibola.

Ajibola was rendered unconscious during the assault and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The unnamed resident, citing the sensitive nature of the incident, shared, "Ajibola rears goats to support his motorcycle business. It was around 4 pm when one of his goats went into Akinsanya’s compound and ate the dried yams he spread in the compound. When he came out and saw the goat eating it, he picked up the kid and beat it to death."

"After confronting Akinsanya about his actions, an argument ensued, leading to Akinsanya calling on hoodlums to assault Ajibola," the source continued.

The family of the deceased mourned the loss, while Akinsanya was apprehended by the police. Three alleged accomplices, identified as Chicago, Agbara, and an individual known only as ID, are reportedly on the run.

A relative of the deceased, who requested anonymity, expressed concerns about potential police interference in the case, alleging that efforts were being made to manipulate the investigation.

"The principal suspect is in police custody. His accomplices, Chicago, Agbara, and ID, are on the run," the relative claimed.

Meanwhile, Akinsanya's colleagues are allegedly rallying to secure his release and obstruct the police investigation. They purportedly intend to prevent the arrest of the remaining suspects.

Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that efforts were underway to apprehend the fugitive suspects.

"The suspect, Kolawole Akinsanya, has been arrested and detained. Ongoing efforts are being made to apprehend other fleeing suspects," Odutola said.
