A 23-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday after scaling the wall at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, claiming he wanted to “spread the gospel” to Trump and propose to his 18-year-old granddaughter, Kai Trump.
The man, identified as Anthony Thomas Reyes, was apprehended shortly after midnight by Secret Service agents. He reportedly confessed to breaching the perimeter of the heavily secured property and stated his intentions to officers upon arrest. Mar-a-Lago, a federally protected site, has strict security measures in place, including prominent signage warning against trespassing and routine patrols by federal agents.

Reyes’s arrest marks his second attempt to unlawfully access the estate. Authorities say he was previously caught trying to enter the premises on New Year’s Eve. While he was initially charged with trespassing under Florida law, federal charges are now being considered due to the nature of the property and repeated offenses.
At the time of the incident, Trump, 78, was in Washington, D.C. and not present at Mar-a-Lago. Officials confirmed the president has been briefed on the situation.
The club was not accepting visitors at the time of the incident, and all entry gates were closed and guarded. It remains unclear whether Kai Trump, the object of Reyes’s alleged romantic pursuit, was on the property during the breach.

Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, is a prominent social media personality with nearly 2 million followers on Instagram and over 1 million YouTube subscribers. A senior at the Benjamin School in Jupiter, Florida, she is also a competitive golfer committed to playing for the University of Miami. Just days before the incident, she placed second in a golf tournament at the Village Golf Course in Royal Palm Beach, less than 15 miles from Mar-a-Lago.
Recent social media posts indicate Kai had returned to the U.S. following a trip to the Bahamas. She frequently shares content from high-profile events, including visits to the White House and appearances at UFC fights alongside her grandfather.

Kai gained national attention during the previous year’s Republican National Convention, where she delivered a heartfelt speech endorsing her grandfather. “To me, he’s just a normal grandpa. He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking, he always wants to know how we’re doing in school,” she said during the address, shortly before Trump’s formal nomination as the Republican presidential candidate.
Following her rise in public profile, Donald Trump Jr. issued a humorous warning to prospective suitors, saying, “Get away, you little bastards, and stay away.”
Federal authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and Reyes remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
