A 28-year-old man in Kenya stunned onlookers when he latched onto a helicopter as it took off from a wedding in Rapogi village, soaring hundreds of feet into the air before the pilot made an emergency landing to save his life.
Dramatic footage captured Stephen Odhiambo Ouma hanging on to the aircraft with no harness or safety gear as it lifted off on Sunday, April 13. The father of two had reportedly approached the helicopter's occupants requesting money and a ride before impulsively grabbing onto the departing aircraft.

The crowd below gasped in horror as Ouma clung to the chopper mid-air, with many fearing the worst. After realizing there was an unauthorized person on board, the pilot quickly diverted the flight and made an emergency landing in a nearby field to avoid a tragedy.
Ouma later described the experience as "exhilarating" and showed no remorse, claiming he could have completed the 65-minute journey to Nairobi if he hadn’t been stopped. He stated that despite being exhausted, he didn’t feel much cold and even managed to keep his slippers on throughout the ordeal. For someone who typically uses donkeys for transportation, Ouma said, the flight was a milestone moment in his life.

He was later tracked down and arrested at his home after attempting to evade police. Authorities reported that he resisted arrest and acted violently before being taken into custody.
Ouma is currently being held by police and is expected to be charged with endangering his own life and the lives of others aboard the helicopter. Police Commander Enrico Lyomu confirmed the arrest and condemned the dangerous stunt, urging the public not to imitate such behavior, particularly as helicopters are becoming more frequent at rural events.
