Man suffers scorpion sting while sleeping at Las Vegas hotel
Michael Farchi from Agoura Hills, California, is pursuing legal action against a luxury Las Vegas resort after alleging he was stung by a scorpion on his testicles while asleep at the hotel. The incident, which occurred on December 26 at the Venetian's Palazzo tower, left Farchi in intense pain, with lingering medical issues.
Recalling the ordeal to ABC Los Angeles affiliate KABC, Farchi described waking up suddenly with sharp pain in his private area. "I woke up with sharp pain in my private area," he recounted. "Didn't know what it was. I reached my hand to see what was happening under the covers and got another sharp pain." He recounted being stung multiple times by the small, venomous creature, which he eventually found clinging to his boxers.
While the exact species of scorpion and the toxicity of its venom remain uncertain, images released by Farchi and his attorney depict the arachnid as approximately an inch long. Following the incident, Farchi sought medical treatment at a local hospital and reported the incident to the hotel staff. Despite this, he claims he was still required to pay for the room.
Farchi has initiated legal proceedings against the resort, seeking unspecified damages. His attorney, Brian Virag, emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, "Nobody staying in Vegas needs to be exposed to deadly scorpions while they're sleeping, let alone on their private parts, their testicles."
When approached for comment, KABC reached out to the hotel, but as of now, there has been no response. However, the hotel informed a Las Vegas TV station that "The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident."
