A massive fire outbreak ravaged Yan Katako Market in the Rijiyar Lemu area of Fagge Local Government Area, Kano State, resulting in the destruction of over 50 shops and assets estimated at N150 million.

According to Alhaji Mamuda Abdullahi, the market's chairman, the fire ignited around 1 am on Monday, engulfing numerous shops filled with plywood, foam, spray machines, chairs, and carpentry tools.

The cause of the inferno remains undetermined at this time.

Abdullahi expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the Kano State Fire Service team and urged the state government and philanthropists to provide aid, highlighting the devastating impact on traders who have lost their primary source of income.

Confirming the incident, State Fire Service Public Relations Officer Saminu Abdullahi reported that approximately 25 shops were completely razed, with several others sustaining partial damages.

"Our firefighters swiftly responded to distress calls and managed to extinguish the flames by 2 am," Abdullahi stated.
