Mel B alleges abusive marriage left her with nothing, was forced to move in with her mom
Mel B, of the Spice Girls, recently disclosed to the BBC her humbling experience moving back in with her mother after leaving her allegedly abusive marriage with Stephen Belafonte. She cited not only emotional and physical abuse but also financial exploitation.
Having filed for divorce and a restraining order in 2017, Mel B expressed the financial strain of legal fees and payments to Belafonte, including a reported $350,000 settlement and $5,000 monthly child support for their daughter, Madison, whom they share.
Reflecting on her ordeal, Mel B emphasized the difficulty of rebuilding trust and starting anew after leaving an abusive relationship. Despite the challenges, she has managed to purchase her own home again through frugal living.
In an Instagram post, Mel B celebrated the milestone, acknowledging the emotional journey and offering solidarity to fellow survivors, urging them to reclaim their power.
