A Michigan man has been arrested after allegedly fatally shooting his ex-wife inside the Detroit hospital where she worked, just one month after she pleaded with the courts for protection from him.
Authorities say 53-year-old Mario Green entered Henry Ford Hospital on Friday, Aug. 22, and shot his ex-wife, 49-year-old Latricia Green, multiple times following a heated argument. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison confirmed that Mario fled the scene after the attack, which briefly placed the hospital on lockdown.
Security footage reportedly showed Mario leaving the hospital around 9:55 a.m. and driving away in a 2011 white Dodge Charger. His vehicle was later found abandoned on a Michigan freeway, and police tracked him down hours later, arresting him at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Hospital officials issued a statement expressing heartbreak over Latricia’s death, remembering her as a valued team member and offering grief resources to staff.
Court records reveal that Latricia had twice sought a personal protection order (PPO) against Mario. In June, she reported that he harassed her at work, attempted to enter her office, and made threatening phone calls, but her request was denied. She applied again on July 20, describing escalating harassment, including her car being broken into, belongings destroyed, and being followed and threatened.
In her application, Latricia wrote that she feared for her life, citing her father’s murder and the failure of the system to protect her. “I am asking for help before this goes too far, and things are too late,” she warned. A judge granted the order on July 21, but Detroit police later confirmed it was never served.

Friends and family say Latricia repeatedly reported Mario’s harassment, including an incident just last week when he allegedly followed her home and ran her off the road. Loved ones described her as a devoted mother, colleague, and friend, devastated that her pleas for help went unanswered.
Mario Green remains in custody as investigators prepare formal charges.
