A 15-year-old girl reported missing from her Reading, Pennsylvania, home a year ago has been located nearly 500 miles away in High Point, North Carolina, where authorities arrested a 32-year-old man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting her.
Joseph A. Rossomando faces multiple felony charges, including seven counts each of statutory sex offense with a child under 15 and statutory rape of a child under 15. Additional charges include trafficking a child victim, sexual servitude, sexual exploitation of a minor, and first-degree kidnapping.

The teenager, whose identity remains protected, was initially classified as a runaway when she disappeared in June 2023. She was discovered Monday after a tip led police to Rossomando’s residence. A search of his home uncovered child sexual abuse material on electronic devices, according to investigators.
Rossomando is being held without bond at Guilford County Jail. High Point police confirmed the victim is safe and receiving support services.
Neighbors expressed shock at the allegations, particularly given the presence of law enforcement officers in the community. "It’s crazy to find out that our neighbor ... was involved in something like this," one resident said. Another noted the unusual police activity, stating, "We have cops living here—it’s not normal to see them raiding homes."
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full extent of the crimes.
