The body of a missing Pennsylvania woman, 33-year-old Katlyn Harp, was discovered on June 29 inside a green metal box, ending a nine-day search. The box was located on a remote, forested property in Hemlock Township that was previously owned by her husband, Vincent Harp, who now faces multiple criminal charges.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the grim discovery and reported that the body was found not by law enforcement but by Katlyn's sister, Harper Lane. Lane had been actively searching for her sibling since June 20, when Katlyn missed their routine daily phone call. Lane initially contacted local police and shared that both sisters used the Life360 tracking app, which had not updated Katlyn's location since the previous day.
Despite initial efforts by the Hemlock Township Police Department, Katlyn's whereabouts remained unknown, and the case was turned over to state troopers on June 22. Vincent Harp was brought in for questioning the following day. Investigators noted inconsistencies in his statements and uncovered critical evidence suggesting potential foul play.
According to the criminal complaint, Vincent failed to disclose certain locations he visited and omitted interactions with his wife around the time she disappeared. Surveillance footage placed him at a Sunoco gas station on June 20 purchasing gloves. Additionally, he sold a utility vehicle on June 24, one day after his interview with state troopers.
That same utility vehicle tested positive for traces of human blood, according to forensic results. Investigators also reviewed footage showing Vincent transporting a green metal box in the bed of his truck on the day Katlyn vanished.
On June 29, Lane alerted authorities after discovering a green metal box hidden approximately 180 yards off a cliffside on a 40-acre wooded property once owned by Vincent. When troopers arrived, they broke the lock on the box and found human remains. Katlyn was identified by a tattoo on her body.
Cellphone records later confirmed Vincent had been in the vicinity of the property on two separate occasions on June 21.
Vincent Harp has since been arrested and charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned the same evening and denied bail. He is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 14. He does not yet have legal representation.
