A tragic murder-suicide at a McDonald’s in Brandon, Mississippi, has left a young mother dead and her two children without parents. Kianna Jackson, 25, was fatally shot on the evening of June 16 by 27-year-old Jhonterryes Dampier, believed to be the father of her 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. Dampier then turned the gun on himself and later died at the hospital.

The shooting occurred at the McDonald’s on Stribling Lane around 7 p.m. Witnesses say Jackson and her children had just visited a park before the incident. A woman who met her minutes before the shooting recalled how the children played together and that Jackson had been upbeat, discussing her plans to return to school for nursing. The fatal encounter happened just minutes later.
Local business owner Justin Taylor, who had recently visited the couple’s home, described sensing tension between them but never imagined it would escalate to violence. Jackson’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support funeral expenses and create a trust fund for her children.

Authorities have not released a motive, but the investigation is ongoing. McDonald’s owner-operator, O’Ferrall Management Group, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and pledged support to affected employees and law enforcement.
