Multiple Arrests in Ondo State: Incest, Fraud, and Car Theft Cases Uncovered

In a series of incidents, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has reported the arrest of several individuals involved in distinct criminal activities.

Abraham Achibong, a 40-year-old farmer, was apprehended on charges of incest with his 14-year-old daughter in Akure, the state capital. According to Aidamenbor Daniel, the Public Relations Officer of the corps, Achibong had been sexually abusing his daughter since she was eight.

The abuse came to light when the girl confided in her teacher during a school visit by Ondo State Primary Health Care officers for a Human Papilloma Virus vaccine sensitization program. Achibong has confessed to the crime and will face prosecution for rape, molestation, and incest.

In a separate case, Agu Nzube Matthew was arrested for allegedly defrauding Mr. Mba Daniel of N5.94 million by impersonating the Protocol Officer to the Governor of Enugu State. Matthew convinced Daniel that a cheque of N9 million had been released as compensation for a parcel of land he had acquired, but some civil servants needed to be ‘settled’ to release the cheque. After collecting the money, Matthew closed his shop in Akure and fled, but was later apprehended in Enugu on May 16, 2024.

Additionally, a 28-year-old man, Ojo Oluwasola, was arrested in Ifeoluwa Community, Shagari village, Akure, while attempting to steal a vehicle.

The community apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the authorities for profiling and investigation. Oluwasola confessed to the car theft and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
