Grassia, a former New York State Trooper, and Frankoski, a National Guard helicopter pilot, were remembered for their service and sacrifice. Rensselaer Mayor Mike Stammel expressed condolences for Frankoski's family, highlighting her dedication to duty.
Tributes poured in for the victims, with flags at half-mast in Rensselaer in honor of Frankoski, whose family has a legacy of public service. County Executive Steve McLaughlin extended condolences to Grassia's family, emphasizing Frankoski's embodiment of national pride.
