A Toyota Sienna transporting personnel of the Nigerian Police Force was involved in an accident on Tuesday morning along the Aba/Owerri Road. The cause of the accident remains unclear, but eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle somersaulted and fell into a gully.

A video captured the aftermath, showing at least three officers lying unconscious on the ground, while others were believed to be trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency responders and concerned bystanders arrived promptly at the scene to assist and rescue those affected.

One of the unconscious officers, after being pulled from the wreckage, was overheard asking about his rifle despite sustaining visible injuries. The condition of the injured officers remains uncertain.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, stated that she would provide further details once an official report was received. Attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Imo State Command, DSP Henry Okoye, were unsuccessful.

This incident comes a day after the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State confirmed the death of an officer from "Operation Crush," the state’s Joint Task Force. The officer lost his life in a lone road accident on Sunday at Isieke along the Umuahia-Bende Road.

In a statement released by FRSC Abia State Command Sector Commander, Ngozi Ezeoma, it was reported that the accident, attributed to brake failure, left eight officers with varying degrees of injuries.
