Nursing Mother Allegedly Kills Maid for Watching TV with Her Children in Owerri

A nursing mother has faced widespread condemnation from her community in Owerri, Imo State, after allegedly causing the death of her underage maid.
A viral video shared online shows the nursing mother carrying her child in a hospital while being surrounded by an angry crowd.
The lifeless body of the young maid is seen on a hospital bed as the community confronts the woman over her alleged actions. The tension rises as some members of the crowd become agitated, prompting a bystander to warn against violence: "Guy, no hit am, no hit am."
Another voice in the video is heard saying, "She's going to NAPTIP straight," referring to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
According to journalist Nonsonkwa Ochi War, the woman was apprehended by neighbors shortly after the tragic incident. Reports allege that the maid was punished for sitting with the woman’s children to watch television, a punishment that ultimately led to her death.
In the video, the nursing mother attempts to explain her side of the story, claiming she had gone to the market, returned, and began cooking. However, the crowd repeatedly drowns out her voice, calling her names and demanding justice for the deceased maid.
"Very wicked woman. Is that not someone's child?" one person in the crowd shouts, while others film the body of the maid, showing visible injuries.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many condemning the alleged abuse and calling for justice for the young girl.
