Obafemi Awolowo University Announces Passing of Professor Jimoh Famakinwa

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has confirmed the passing of Professor Jimoh Famakinwa of the Department of Philosophy.
According to an official statement, Professor Famakinwa experienced abnormal breathing during a departmental meeting on Wednesday. Colleagues immediately rushed him to the university’s medical center, where he received prompt medical attention. Following an evaluation by doctors on duty, he was referred to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC), where he was later pronounced dead.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simeon Bamire, led members of the management team on a condolence visit to the late professor’s family. Expressing deep shock and sadness, the team described Famakinwa as a brilliant scholar whose sudden passing was an immense loss to the academic community.
The vice-chancellor encouraged the bereaved family to find solace in the profound impact the professor had on those around him. He extended prayers for strength to the family, the Department of Philosophy, the Faculty of Arts, and the entire university community.
Professor Famakinwa’s remains have been deposited at the OAUTHC morgue.
