A 7-month-old girl from Ohio, Elizah Turner, died after being attacked by one of her family’s three pit bulls, according to statements made by her grieving parents.
Mackenzie Copley, Elizah’s mother, shared her heartbreak in an emotional post, expressing disbelief and sorrow over the incident. She posted pictures of her daughter cuddling with the family dogs and wrote, “I will never understand why!!! I am so lost and broken. This was the same dog who was side by side with my baby every single day.”
The baby’s father, Kameron Turner, also expressed his anguish, writing, “Life is so not fair. How can I continue living without her.”

Elizah Turner was remembered as a joyful child who was always smiling. Her obituary described her as someone whose face could light up a room and whose laugh was contagious.
Details surrounding the fatal incident remain unclear. Police in Columbus referred to the death as a tragic accident. “There is really not a lot of words I can say to convey how I feel,” said Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Police Department. “Everyone in this process is grieving as if this child belonged to us, because most of us are parents and can’t imagine just how this scene is.”

According to police, Elizah was bitten by one of the family’s dogs, and the situation escalated quickly. It has not been disclosed which of the three pit bulls was involved.
Franklin County Animal Control has taken custody of the three dogs while an investigation is conducted to determine their fate.
