One Dead, Eleven Injured in Mass Shooting at North Carolina House Party

A mass shooting at a house party in Hickory, North Carolina, has left one person dead and eleven others injured, according to authorities. The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the Mountain View community of southwest Catawba County, roughly 60 miles northwest of Charlotte.
Law enforcement responded to a call around 12:45 a.m. reporting multiple gunshot victims at a residence on Walnut Acres Drive. Upon arrival, officers found 12 people suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims died from their injuries, and another remains in critical condition. Several others are still hospitalized, according to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators stated that approximately 100 people were attending the party when gunfire erupted. Witnesses reported that many attendees were local high school students. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and officials have not yet identified any suspects.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with support from the Hickory Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. No arrests have been made as authorities continue working to determine who is responsible for the attack.
Local school officials have confirmed they are in contact with law enforcement but have not received any information indicating student involvement at this time.
