Passengers on an American Airlines flight were forced to evacuate after their aircraft caught fire at Denver International Airport. The incident occurred on Thursday when Flight 1006, a Boeing 737-800, was diverted to Denver shortly after departing from Colorado Springs Airport due to reported engine vibrations. The flight was originally headed to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), after the aircraft landed and was taxiing to the gate, an engine caught fire, prompting an emergency evacuation. Passengers used inflatable slides to exit the plane safely. Images from the scene showed severe fire damage above the wing on the right side of the aircraft. Emergency response teams quickly arrived, extinguishing the fire without any reported injuries.

Denver International Airport confirmed the incident, stating that the fire produced visible smoke and that all passengers were safely evacuated. Video footage captured emergency slides deployed as ground crews assisted passengers down to the tarmac, where they were later relocated inside the terminal.
American Airlines acknowledged the situation in a statement, confirming that all 172 passengers and six crew members onboard deplaned safely. The airline expressed gratitude to its crew members, airport staff, and first responders for their swift action in ensuring the safety of everyone involved.

The incident adds to a series of recent aviation emergencies. Earlier this year, a major American Airlines crash resulted in 67 fatalities, marking the deadliest U.S. air disaster in 24 years. In February, a Delta passenger plane crash-landed upside down in Toronto, leaving 21 people hospitalized with minor injuries. That same month, a small aircraft crash-landed in a Pennsylvania retirement home parking lot, injuring five people.
Additionally, a mid-air collision over Arizona’s Marana Airport in February resulted in two fatalities. One of the planes was completely destroyed upon impact, while the other managed to land safely.
Authorities continue to investigate the American Airlines fire incident, as concerns over aviation safety grow following a series of alarming incidents in recent months.
