A Pennsylvania man is dead and his roommate is in custody after a deadly confrontation inside their Treasure Lake home ended with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Christopher Euard, 52, has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person after police say he shot and killed his roommate, Timothy Pirraglia, during a dispute over their living situation. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 7 at a residence in the gated Treasure Lake community in DuBois, central Pennsylvania.
According to the arrest affidavit, Euard himself placed the emergency call, allegedly telling dispatchers that he had gotten into a fight with his roommate and shot him. When officers arrived at the home, they found Euard waiting outside and immediately took him into custody. Inside the home, police discovered Pirraglia dead from a single shotgun wound to the chest.
Euard told investigators the two had been arguing for weeks about their living arrangements. On the night of the shooting, the tension escalated into a verbal argument when Euard returned from work. He claimed the dispute turned physical when Pirraglia struck him and shoved his head into a corner. The altercation ended with both men retreating to separate rooms to cool off.
Approximately 35 minutes later, Euard said Pirraglia packed a backpack and announced he was leaving. At that point, Euard retrieved an AR-15-style rifle from his bedroom.
A third roommate, who was present during the incident and later interviewed by police, reported overhearing the final exchange between the two men. According to the affidavit, after a series of insults, Pirraglia said, “Do it. You’re not going to do it.” The roommate then heard a single gunshot.
After confronting Euard, the third roommate said Euard told him, “He’s down.” When asked what that meant, Euard replied, “You know what happened.” The witness then left the house.
Euard claimed he waited several hours before contacting authorities because he had "passed out."
He is currently being held at Clearfield County Jail without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
