A woman accused of playing a key role in a fatal acid attack appeared in court yesterday, just over a week after the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Paris Wilson, 34, a former probation officer and mother of two, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court, where she spoke only to confirm her name during the preliminary hearing. She is charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to kidnap 38-year-old Danny Cahalane, as well as participation in the activities of an organized crime group.

Cahalane, a personal trainer, was attacked with sulfuric acid at his home on Lipson Road in Plymouth on February 21. He sustained devastating facial injuries and was transferred to a hospital outside Plymouth for his safety. After fighting for his life for ten weeks, he died on May 3.
Wilson was joined in the dock by 38-year-old Jenna Said, also known as Jenna O’Grady, a mother-of-three from Plymouth. Said faces identical charges of conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to kidnap, and involvement in an organized crime group. Three prison officers flanked both women, while the remaining defendants appeared in smaller groups throughout the day due to the limited space in the courtroom.

Seven men from London have also been charged in connection with the attack: Ramarnee Bakas, 22; Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 22; Arrone Mukuna, 24; Jean Mukuna, 23; Brian Kalemba, 22; Isanah Sungum, 22; and Israel Augustus, 25, of Haringey. All face charges related to the plot, with Augustus specifically accused of applying a corrosive substance with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Bakas, the Mukuna brothers, and Adedoja also face charges of laundering the proceeds of crime.
All defendants were remanded in custody. Judge Robert Linford agreed to a prosecution request to adjourn the case until the week beginning June 2, when pleas are expected to be entered. A trial is not anticipated until May 2025.

Wilson, previously employed in Plymouth’s Barbican district as a probation officer, reportedly assisted ex-offenders with reintegration into society, helping them secure housing and employment. She also volunteered at Dartmoor Prison, where she taught inmates to read and write. Her LinkedIn profile indicates she has a background in business development and holds a master’s degree in public administration.
Following Cahalane’s death, his family released a statement through police, saying: “We are struggling to come to terms with Danny’s passing. Danny was an outstanding father and son. Danny and his mum had so much love for each other. He is well loved by his family and friends, and as a family we cherish his love and memories. We ask the family are please given privacy and respect during this time.”

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that nine individuals have been charged in relation to the case. Forensic teams remained at the scene for several days after the February attack, combing the area for evidence. Locals were asked to check home security, doorbell, and dashcam footage as the investigation unfolded.
Detective Superintendent Ben Davies said: “Our thoughts are with Danny’s family and friends at this sad time. The investigation remains ongoing.”
