The Adamawa State Police Command on May 18 arrested a 19-year-old male identified as Mohammed Umar for allegedly loitering within the premises of Ngurore LCCN Church while dressed in clothing typically associated with women. Umar is a resident of Abuja Road in the Yola South Local Government Area.
According to police reports, the arrest was made after Sunday Andrawus reported suspicious activity to the Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters. Andrawus observed the suspect’s movements around the church premises and alerted authorities.
Following the report, officers apprehended Umar for questioning. His unusual appearance and behavior prompted further concern, particularly given the sensitive location.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, has since ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, for a thorough and discreet investigation into the incident.
The police have not disclosed the motive behind Umar’s presence or his choice of clothing, pending the outcome of the investigation. Authorities emphasized that the matter is being handled with the seriousness it deserves to ensure clarity and public reassurance.
The Adamawa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and order, and has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities in their communities without delay.
