Police arrest mechanic, girlfriend on way to sell customers’ vehicles
The Osun State Police Command has revealed that its officers apprehended Temitope Oke, 33, and his girlfriend, Wuraola Julius, 28, while they were en route to Kogi State to sell vehicles to prospective buyers.
Alongside other alleged accomplices, Wasiu Hammed, 19, and Olamilekan Yusuf, 21, they were intercepted at Osunjela in Osun State in possession of four distinct vehicles intended for sale.
The seized vehicles comprise a white 2014 Toyota Camry bearing registration number LSR 935 JC Lagos; a red 2010 unregistered Toyota Camry; a 2005 gold-colored Honda Accord registered as FST 917 BF Lagos, and a 2010 black Toyota Camry.
DCP Hope Okafor, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, disclosed that the apprehension occurred around 1 am on Wednesday, February 7, as the suspects were driving the vehicles to Kogi State for a transaction with a prospective buyer.
She further stated that following additional investigations to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate, the suspects would be prosecuted.
During questioning by journalists, Oke explained that he had relocated to Osun after selling a customer’s vehicle in Kabba town, Kogi State. He claimed to be a specialist in vehicle transmissions and asserted that he was en route to Kogi to sell the cars in question. He emphasized that his girlfriend was unaware of their intention to sell the vehicles, accompanying them on the journey unknowingly.
Oke clarified, "The four cars belonged to different customers who had brought them for transmission repairs."
