An Anti-Crime Squad of the Anambra State Police Command rescued four men abducted by kidnappers on March 8, 2024.
During a patrol and snap check along Amagu-Awgbu Road in Orumba North local government area, the police team intercepted the kidnappers as they attempted to flee the state.
The kidnappers opened fire on sighting the police, but the police-vigilantes team returned fire, demobilizing two of the three vehicles the gang operated. Some gang members escaped with the third vehicle, while others fled into the bush on foot with bullet wounds.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident and stated that one Pump Action Gun was recovered. Additionally, two SUVs—a 2017 Toyota Highlander with registration number Abuja GWA 141 KZ and a Mercedes Benz GLK 350 4Matic with registration number Anambra AGU 242 NQ—were also recovered.
