A 35-year-old Colombian national, Yostin Andres Mosquera, is on trial for the brutal murders of Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, whose dismembered bodies were discovered in suitcases near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. Prosecutors allege that Mosquera, a pornographic performer who had been staying at the couple's home in Shepherd’s Bush, London, killed both men in a series of calculated, sadistic acts, with the intent to rob them afterward.

Mosquera had reportedly met Albert Alfonso online and traveled to the UK to engage in degrading sex acts with the retired swimming instructor, which were later posted online. While Albert’s partner, Paul Longworth, had no involvement in these sexual activities, he reportedly tolerated them. According to evidence presented in court, Mosquera killed Paul by repeatedly striking him in the back of the head with a hammer on July 8. Later, while engaging in sexual activity with Albert, he fatally stabbed him in the neck. Footage of the murder was recorded, with Mosquera allegedly taunting the victim mid-attack, asking, “Do you like it?” before dancing and throwing a towel over the body.

Prior to the killings, Mosquera had allegedly researched the couple’s financial worth, including the value of their home, and browsed Facebook Marketplace for a chest freezer. He also copied spreadsheets containing Albert's online banking information and searched for terms like “serial killers of London” and “Jack the Ripper film,” suggesting premeditation. Prosecutors further allege that Mosquera created a PowerPoint presentation documenting the couple's bank details and attempted to transfer £4,000 to his account in Colombia, alongside multiple cash withdrawals and attempts to access their accounts online.

The court heard that after the murders, Mosquera dismembered the victims' bodies, storing their severed heads in a chest freezer in the home and placing the other remains into a red suitcase and silver trunk. On July 10, a cyclist spotted Mosquera on the Clifton Suspension Bridge with the two cases and engaged him in conversation. Mosquera allegedly claimed to be a tourist from Colombia and said the luggage contained car parts. Staff on the bridge became suspicious when fluid was seen leaking from one of the cases. When asked to open the suitcase, Mosquera fled the scene. Police were later called and discovered the bodies of Paul and Albert inside the luggage, while their heads remained in the freezer at the Shepherd’s Bush property.
Autopsy reports revealed that Paul's skull had been shattered from multiple hammer blows, while Albert had sustained numerous stab wounds to his torso, neck, and face, with his throat ultimately being slit.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC told the jury that while Mosquera admits to killing Albert, he denies murder and claims it was manslaughter. He also denies killing Paul, instead blaming Albert for Paul’s death. The prosecution, however, argues that both killings were intentional and meticulously planned, followed by immediate attempts at financial theft.
Jurors have been informed they will be shown video evidence of Albert's murder during the trial. Mosquera, who is using a Spanish interpreter in court, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder but has admitted to the manslaughter of Albert Alfonso.
The trial is ongoing.
