The body of a pregnant woman, identified as 28-year-old Brittany Fuhr-Storms, was discovered stuffed inside a sealed plastic storage bin along Fort Anthony Road in Jackson Township, Ohio. Authorities were called to the scene at approximately 8 p.m. on August 3 following reports of a foul odor. Responding officers described the stench as so overpowering that they hesitated to open the container, noting it was unlike any typical decomposition smell.

An autopsy confirmed that Fuhr-Storms had been pregnant at the time of her death, and tragically, the unborn child did not survive.

Investigators traced the case back to her last known address in Middletown, where two suspects were taken into custody. James R. Rothenbusch, 52, admitted to drug trafficking and told police that Fuhr-Storms died in his home under “suspicious circumstances.” He confessed to keeping her body inside the residence for about four days before disposing of it.

The second suspect, Ricky J. Sheppard, 47, attempted to flee before being apprehended. He claimed the victim died from an alleged overdose and that her body remained in the house for about a week before removal.

Rothenbusch is facing charges of corrupting another with drugs, tampering with evidence, and gross abuse of a corpse. Sheppard has been charged with gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Chief of Staff Jeremy Roy commended the rapid cooperation among law enforcement agencies, stating, “Everybody dropped everything as they should when you find out that a mother-to-be was just dumped on the side of the road. You don’t always get that cooperation across the U.S. and in Ohio, but in this case, you kind of have to tip your hat.”
