Princess of Wales's uncle 'set to appear on Celebrity Big Brother'

Gary Goldsmith, the uncle of the Princess of Wales, is reportedly set to participate in the upcoming season of Celebrity Big Brother, marking the show's return to UK television after six years. Goldsmith, a 58-year-old businessman and brother of Kate's mother, Carole, gained attention when he attended the wedding of his niece and Prince William in 2011.

Reported by The Sun newspaper, Goldsmith was seen arriving at ITV's studios and has been accommodated in a London hotel in anticipation of the series premiere tonight. Meanwhile, Kate, who underwent planned abdominal surgery in January, is reportedly recovering well, as confirmed by Kensington Palace.

Goldsmith, based in London, has a background in IT and recruitment. As the brother of Carole Middleton, he is related to the Princess of Wales, as well as her siblings, Pippa and James Middleton.

In 2017, Goldsmith was convicted of assaulting his wife, Julie-Ann Goldsmith, during a drunken altercation outside their central London home. He received a 12-month community order, 20 rehabilitation sessions, and a £5,000 fine after pleading guilty to one count of assault by beating.

Celebrity Big Brother will premiere tonight on ITV, marking its first live broadcast on the network. The show originally gained popularity on Channel 4 before moving to Channel 5, with its final season airing in 2018.
