Prophet Apata, the General Overseer of the Vineyard of Deliverance Ministry, has captured the attention of many with his extraordinary life story, spiritual journey, and unconventional approach to family life. From childhood miracles to divine instructions guiding his marriages, the prophet's life is a testament to the mysterious and extraordinary path he has walked.

Born an Ebira in Kogi State with roots in Benin, Edo State, Prophet Apata shared a remarkable childhood marked by a miraculous resurrection at the age of two. After experiencing death alongside his twin brother, a divine intervention on a mountain not only brought him back to life but also marked him as a prophet. From this early age, he started having visions, setting the foundation for his prophetic journey.

Despite facing challenges in formal education, Prophet Apata claims that divine intervention led to his ability to read and write. Leaving school in JSS 3 due to spiritual encounters, he emphasizes that God personally taught him, adding a mysterious layer to his prophetic gifts.

The death of his father in 1986 prompted a spiritual awakening for Prophet Apata. Despite the temptation to join a cult, a friend's invitation to a church in 1988 led to his conversion. This marked the beginning of his Christian journey, eventually leading him to New Covenant Church in Ibadan, where he became actively involved and gained popularity.

In 1995, Prophet Apata left Ibadan for Lagos, embarking on a ministry journey marked by challenges and divine instructions. Despite facing expulsion from a church in Somolu and subsequent financial struggles, his ministry eventually gained stability. A divine instruction in 2011 led him to marry a widow, triggering financial prosperity and church growth.

Prophet Apata's decision to marry a second wife in 2011 faced resistance, leading to his arrest. However, the financial success that followed saw the church acquiring property and the prophet riding a Prado SUV. In 2020, a third wife was added, guided by divine instruction to secure the longevity of his first wife.

Prophet Apata emphasizes that each of his three wives has her own house, car, and receives a salary. While he spends more time with his first wife, he asserts that each wife plays a vital role in the ministry. Clear communication and adherence to divine instructions are crucial for maintaining harmony in the family.

Prophet Apata attributes his wealth to the generosity of his church members, whom he considers his source of prosperity. Despite not preaching about tithes or offerings, he highlights the spontaneous and generous giving of his members as the driving force behind his financial success.

In response to criticisms, Prophet Apata defends polygamy, citing biblical references and emphasizing the dynamic nature of the prophetic ministry. He argues that Apostle Paul's suggestion of monogamy was not a divine command and points to the absence of any biblical prohibition against marrying multiple wives.

According to the prophet, "When people tell me that a bishop should have just one wife, I tell them I’m neither a bishop nor a pastor, but I’m a prophet. I tell my critics to show me a place in the Bible that says a prophet must be a husband to one wife". He also said, "There’s also a difference between the suggestion of Paul in the Bible and ‘thus says the Lord’. Paul brought monogamy as a suggestion, not God. Apostle Paul was advising bishops, and bishops were just like administrators. It was just a piece of advice from Paul, it’s not a command. No place in the Bible says it’s a sin to marry multiple wives".
