The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that two individuals are being questioned in connection with the explosion at the Trans Niger Delta Pipeline, operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company.

The incident occurred between Monday night and Tuesday morning at the border of Kpor and Bodo communities in Rivers State. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, which triggered a large fire.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko stated that efforts are underway to establish whether the explosion was an act of sabotage. The police assured the public of their commitment to identifying those responsible and maintaining security in the state.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. The incident comes amid rising political tensions in Rivers State, following moves by lawmakers to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
