A San Diego woman has been accused of spying on her ex-husband and his new family by accessing their Ring security cameras without consent—allegedly recording more than 700 hours of private footage, including intimate family moments and sensitive conversations.

Yantzy Villefranche and his fiancée, Acacia Young, claim the surveillance was carried out by Villefranche’s ex-wife, who allegedly maintained access to the indoor Ring cameras the couple had installed in their Rancho Peñasquitos home after one of their children began sleepwalking.

“There’s no way to describe how violated you feel,” Young said. “It feels like someone touched me… like she had been in my house for months, and we had no idea.”

The couple became suspicious in May when they noticed the blue recording light on the camera activating without explanation. Their concerns escalated when they heard a woman's voice speaking through the camera—immediately recognized as Villefranche’s ex-wife.

'Ring device logs show that she accessed my account... and viewed video footage for approximately 44,640 minutes... over the span of two months,' Villefranche (pictured) wrote in the restraining order filing

Upon checking their Ring and Amazon device settings, the couple discovered that multiple devices—including some they did not own—were still registered under the ex-wife’s name. Villefranche, who had originally purchased the Ring system during his previous marriage, believed he had revoked her access following their divorce.

The alleged intrusion led the couple to file a restraining order and send a cease-and-desist letter. According to the court filings, the ex-wife allegedly viewed over 44,000 minutes—more than 31 days’ worth—of video in just two months. Young claims that up to 12 hours of footage were accessed daily.

The recorded content reportedly included footage of Young breastfeeding, children in various states of undress, and Villefranche’s 10-year-old stepson in private settings. Young also said the ex-wife had access to conversations containing personal information such as bank account details and Social Security numbers.

“She watched the most intimate things,” Young stated. “It doesn’t matter if you’re breaking in behind a screen. You broke into our home.”

Despite the severity of the allegations, two restraining orders filed against the ex-wife were dismissed in court. However, the San Diego Police Department has investigated the claims and passed the case to the San Diego District Attorney’s Office.

Police have recommended charges including eavesdropping, wiretapping, and stalking. As of Wednesday night, no criminal charges had been officially filed.
