Uche Ojeh, the beloved husband of Today Show co-anchor Sheinelle Jones, has died at the age of 45 following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. The heartbreaking news was announced Friday morning during a broadcast of the NBC morning program, where Jones has served as a co-host since 2014.
Ojeh, remembered as a devoted father and loving partner, had been fighting glioblastoma, a fast-growing and deadly brain cancer that typically carries a poor prognosis. The disease, which affects cells in the brain or spinal cord, is resistant to treatment and often recurs even after surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.

The couple had been married since 2007 and shared three children together: 14-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche. Their love story began in the late 1990s at Northwestern University, where Sheinelle was a freshman and Ojeh was a high school senior touring the campus. Recalling the day they met, Jones once shared in a university magazine interview, “I was a fake tour guide... I was just walking to class. I saw him and said, ‘Are you guys lost?’ I told him I’d take him around because he was cute.”
In recent months, Sheinelle Jones had taken time away from the Today Show to deal with what was described as a family health matter. Her last appearance on air was on December 18. In January, she addressed her absence via Instagram, thanking fans and viewers for their concern. “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I've been absent from the show,” she wrote. “It's not lost on me how lucky I am to have the support of my Today Show family, and all of you.”

On Friday, Jones shared a clip of the on-air tribute to her husband on her Instagram page with a simple message: “Thank you, for all of your love and support.” The post quickly filled with messages of condolence and heartfelt support from fans, colleagues, and friends.
Colleagues Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin led the tribute, expressing their heartbreak and admiration for Ojeh. “There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person,” Guthrie said. “We all loved him.”

“Sheinelle, we all love you and we are so looking forward to having you back,” Melvin added.
Uche Ojeh’s life was one marked by quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to his family. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his memory lives on through Sheinelle, their children, and all who knew and loved him.
