A Staten Island mother and her 20-year-old son were arrested in Florida after allegedly attempting to flee the country following a deadly street racing crash in New Jersey, authorities confirmed.
Prosecutors allege that Alvi Limani, 20, was behind the wheel of a BMW X3 on June 29, racing a BMW M5 along the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Investigators say both drivers were speeding recklessly southbound when Limani’s vehicle struck two other cars and rolled over several times around 7 p.m.

Two passengers were ejected from the SUV during the crash. One of them, 20-year-old Albion Hysenaj of Staten Island, was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other passenger suffered serious injuries but survived.
Limani and another passenger, 19-year-old Emily Harrington of Staten Island, allegedly fled the crash scene on foot. Authorities say Limani’s mother, Vilma Vneshta, 42, later helped him escape to Miami in an attempt to leave the United States.

Law enforcement captured the pair near Miami on July 17. They were held in Florida for three weeks before being extradited to New Jersey last Wednesday. TikTok footage surfaced appearing to show the two being escorted off a plane in handcuffs and leg shackles at a tristate area airport. Booking photos show Limani in a neck brace with visible facial injuries, while Vneshta appeared expressionless.
Both are now in custody at Middlesex County Correctional Facility awaiting detention hearings. Limani faces charges including first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, causing death while driving with a suspended license, and other related offenses. Vneshta has been charged with third-degree hindering.

Prosecutors also announced that Jeter Ogando, 23, of Perth Amboy, the driver of the BMW M5 allegedly involved in the street race, has been charged with vehicular homicide and related counts. Harrington faces charges of third-degree hindering, obstruction, and conspiracy to endanger another person.
