Thirty-two passengers were rescued Saturday evening after a $4 million Lamborghini-branded luxury yacht began sinking off the coast of Miami Beach near Flagler Monument Island in Biscayne Bay. The vessel, a limited-edition 63-foot Tecnomar for Lamborghini, was reportedly carrying twice its recommended capacity when it began taking on water.

The yacht, inspired by Lamborghini's super sports cars and weighing 24 tons, can reach speeds of up to 63 knots (approximately 72 mph) and is designed to carry a maximum of 16 passengers. At the time of the incident, it had 32 people on board, including a group of social media influencers and former beauty pageant contestants who were seen documenting the unfolding emergency in real time.

The US Coast Guard said 32 people were rescued from the sinking yacht.

Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, responded swiftly to the emergency. All passengers were safely evacuated and evaluated by the Miami Beach Fire Department, with no injuries reported. Commercial salvage teams are working to recover the partially submerged yacht, which is not considered a navigation hazard.

The dramatic scene occurred around 5 p.m. near Star Island, a well-known enclave for the wealthy in Miami. As the vessel began sinking, influencers aboard were seen recording videos, taking selfies, and even rescuing luxury items including a MacBook and a $350 bottle of Clase Azul Gold tequila. Footage shared online shows some passengers in life vests posing for videos and commenting humorously on the situation, with one saying “The baby is safe” in reference to the tequila.

One of the passengers, former Miss America contestant Regan Hartley, was seen holding the tequila while being rescued. Others continued filming as they boarded rescue boats, joking and laughing despite the yacht tilting into a vertical position.

Eyewitnesses nearby reported seeing the yacht nearly submerged with only its bow visible above water. One witness said, “We saw a bunch of police boats, and there was a yacht that was flipped over, completely vertical.”

The incident occurred during the Formula One Miami Grand Prix weekend, which attracts hundreds of thousands of fans to the city. The yacht’s sinking added a bizarre twist to the festivities, occurring as celebrities and influencers gathered in Miami for high-profile events.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is currently investigating the cause of the incident. Authorities have not yet released information regarding the yacht’s owner or what caused the luxury vessel to begin sinking.

The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is a limited-edition yacht, with only 11 units ever produced. One is famously owned by former MMA champion Conor McGregor, who purchased his in 2021 for $3.6 million.
