A small twin-engine aircraft crashed Friday morning in Boca Raton, Florida, striking a vehicle and erupting into flames near Interstate 95 and Military Trail, just outside Boca Raton Airport. All three people aboard the plane were killed.

The aircraft, identified as a Cessna 310, had departed from Boca Raton Airport en route to Tallahassee International Airport. Shortly after takeoff, the plane reportedly circled the area before crashing into a car near a busy intersection. The impact pushed the vehicle onto nearby railroad tracks, and both the plane and the car were engulfed in flames when emergency responders arrived.

Authorities confirmed that at least one person inside the vehicle survived and escaped the wreckage. The individual’s condition has not been disclosed.

The crash occurred near a school, though there are no confirmed reports of injuries to students or staff. Witnesses said the explosion shook nearby buildings and sent thick black smoke into the air. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but the crash scene remains active as investigators continue their work.

As a result of the crash, road closures have been implemented on North Military Trail between Northwest 19th Street and Butts Road, as well as both directions of the I-95 overpass at Glades Road. Rail service between Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach stations has also been suspended. A bus bridge is being arranged to provide limited service, but significant delays are expected throughout the day.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and the state Fire Marshal are on site conducting a full investigation into the cause of the crash.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area while emergency and investigative efforts are underway. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
