At least three people were killed in a shooting attack at a hair salon in central Uppsala, Sweden, triggering a large-scale police operation. The shooting occurred near Vaksala Square, a busy area in the heart of the city, after emergency services received multiple calls reporting the sound of gunfire.

Responding officers arrived to find several individuals suffering injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Authorities confirmed that three victims had died from their injuries. The area around the crime scene was immediately cordoned off, and forensic teams and investigators launched a full-scale inquiry.

Witnesses reported scenes of chaos and fear as shots were fired. One bystander recounted hearing a gunshot followed by screams. Another stated that the shooter appeared suddenly from around a corner before opening fire. Initial reports indicate that the suspect, described as wearing dark clothing, fled the scene on a scooter and remains at large.

Police are actively searching for the suspect and have not ruled out gang involvement, given Sweden's ongoing struggle with gang-related violence. The country has been grappling with a sharp rise in gun crime and deadly shootings over the past decade, largely attributed to escalating turf wars between criminal groups.

The shooting in Uppsala adds to a growing list of violent incidents that have shaken Sweden. In February, the country experienced its deadliest mass shooting in modern history, when a gunman killed ten people at an adult education center in Örebro.

Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the victims or confirm whether the shooting was directly linked to organized crime. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
