Tornadoes ravage Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky; at least 2 dead, damage widespread
Authorities in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky are assessing the extensive damage caused by suspected tornadoes, resulting in at least two confirmed fatalities and numerous injuries. Officials anticipate the death toll to increase as the surveys progress.
Logan County in central Ohio faces a mass casualty incident, with Chief Deputy Joe Kopus confirming two deaths from a suspected tornado in a trailer park near Indian Lake. Heavy damage is reported in various areas, including Lakeview, Midway, Orchard Island, and Russells Point.
Tornado touchdowns were also reported in Jenera, near Findlay in northwest Ohio, and near Plymouth along the Huron-Richland counties line, with significant damage to homes and structures.
In Indiana, Superintendent Douglas Carter highlighted significant injuries but no confirmed deaths in Winchester, where buildings and homes were severely damaged or destroyed. Search efforts, including Indiana Task Force One, are underway to locate individuals in collapsed buildings.
Kentucky witnessed a tornado in Trimble County's town of Milton, resulting in damage to at least 50 structures, including homes. Despite extensive damage, Gov. Andy Beshear reported only minor injuries and no fatalities or missing persons, pledging support for impacted communities.
