Two Arrested Over Kidnapping and Murder of Female Banker in Onitsha After Collecting N4m Ransom

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a female banker in Onitsha, the commercial hub of Anambra State. The suspects, identified as Monday Egbe, 32, and Kenneth Nnoga, 28, were tracked and apprehended at their hideout in a neighboring state on May 28, 2025.
The victim, identified only as Ifeoma, was kidnapped on January 13, 2025, and held in captivity while her abductors demanded a ransom from her family. Despite the payment of ₦14 million, she was not released. Her lifeless body was later found along Nnobi Road with her eyes bound, indicating she had been executed after the ransom was collected.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests were the result of diligent investigative efforts by operatives committed to tracking down the perpetrators. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing intensive interrogation to uncover further details about the gang’s operations and identify other accomplices involved in the heinous crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and her family. He affirmed that the Police would continue to pursue all criminal elements across the state and beyond to maintain the safety and security of residents.
